WHO ARE WE?

We are part of the Lasco Enterprises, (Max’s Wine Dive, The Tasting Room Wine Café, and Boiler House Texas Grill) which, as a whole, is one of the largest restaurant wine buyers in Texas.

WHAT DO WE DO?
We leverage our restaurant wine purchasing opportunities and pass along the unique savings directly to you. Our strength is finding excellent wine at great values and matching them to each customer’s tastes.
CAN YOU EXPLAIN THIS FURTHER?
We try to run The Black Door as a zero-overhead business. We have no dedicated employees and no rent or other overhead. We operate out of our restaurants, Max’s Wine Dive on Washington in Houston and Max’s Quarry in San Antonio. As part of our restaurant business, we are constantly tasting new wines and finding opportunities to purchase in volume. The Black Door is an opportunity for us to sell wine directly to our customers at a price point based on purchasing cost.
HOW DO I GET INVITED TO THESE TASTINGS?

IS THERE A MINIMUM PURCHASE?
YES. Since we don’t have the personnel to handle a lot of smaller transactions, we have priced our wines based on a minimum of six bottle purchases only. Please feel free to mix and match. Purchases of less than six bottles will have a 20 percent service charge added.
DO WE DELIVER?
Unfortunately, no. We just don’t have the personnel to deliver, but we do a great job with making takeout easy and once you’ve gotten to know our staff, don’t be surprised to get offered free tastes of new wines when you pop in.
HOW DO I GET MY WINE IF YOU DON’T DELIVER?
If you are in Houston, please come by Max’s on Washington, and if you are in San Antonio; please visit our Quarry location during our operating hours.
DO WE GUARANTEE THE QUALITY OF OUR WINES?
YES! We taste and evaluate every wine prior to our purchases and our guarantee is simple and black and white. If you are not happy with the wine for any reason, we will replace or refund—no questions asked.
IF THE BLACK DOOR DOESN’T HAVE DEDICATED EMPLOYEES, HOW CAN WE PROVIDE GOOD SERVICE?
By limiting what we promise. We will offer wine at an extremely high value. We will arrange and facilitate your pick-up of purchases. Finally, we guarantee all purchases with a “no questions asked” return policy.
